I always wonder if the people on the beach at SXM can actually touch the wing of the landing plane?

I love this picture for two reasons: One, I was on the flight to St Maarten!! I was in awe on how close the final landing path was to the beach!! Two, I love flying KLM.....It was a one heck of a vacation...(Apr 2007)

An excelent picture of KLM Boeing 747-406 landing at St. Maarten (Princess Juliana). The best I could get is KLM DC-9 taking off from Teesside Airport (Durham Tees Valley)in my home town in England which wouldn't be very exciting.

Looks like it was freshly painted.

It has the (correct) air of a daily life snapshot, allowing the viewer to decide if any detail makes it unusual or surreal.

You almost feel as if you are there...and the plane seems so low, the contrast between the beachgoers and the landing plane is sensational!

I feel the power behind this shot! To be the one person standing on the beach as you hear deep rumbling of the engines hover over you and to feel the rumble at your feet simulatenoously has to be remarkable. What a breath taking capture, thank you.

The klm jetliner looks so graceful as it passes over the shoreline. adding to the intensity of the picture are the people staring upward as the aircraft passes overhead. if only we could add sound to the picture. the aircraft, the people and the water make for a lovely picture. I want this picture hanging in my home. five stars for eric thalman. arthur hillen, british columbia, canada.

Having been at that same location I know how difficult it is just being at the right spot the right time, for the RIGHT plane and on top of all that excellent timiing and lighting. KUDOS!

A very crystal clear picture. Nice work. The colour of the plane, the beach and water make it a nice mix.
These pilots must be real experts to be landing in places like these, especially when you have a crowded beach full of people and to fly so low.
