TC-*** As a part of a special memorial flight project of Turkish Air Force (TAF) named “Golden Wings”, only 2 AK-1 aircrafts were produced in TAF 2nd Air Maintenance Center. The project was based on the story of 2 Turkish pilots; Capt. Fethi and Capt. Sadik, who have passed away in the plane crash during their flight from Istanbul to Cairo by a Bleriot XI in 1914. AK-1 aircrafts reached to Cairo using the Bleriot XI’s similar historic route in 2001. Now, the “Fethi” is preserved in the TAF Museum.

Great shot showing evidence of significant history for a nation. God bless Fethi and Sadik who died when serving their country. Rest in peace!
