EI-DEH (cn 2294) What a timing this Shamrock-bird had - swirling down in front of the sun which was just at its optimal height for the plane rushing through. This definitely doesn't last for long as the sun is quite quickly moving towards the horizon. This so marvellous and unrestricted view into the sun.....an evening I won't forget so soon.

To my fellow visitor from HK: Indeed, and this can be noted on quite a lot of other photo's too, some of which even lack the landing lights and engine detail this shot has, so it's even impossible to confirm direction. AMS for the wind!

There is an illusion here. If you just focus on the outline of the plane, it could be facing north-west or north-east, but if you look at the words on the body of the plane, it faces north-east.

It is moments like this that make aircraft spotting worthwhile. I can understand your enthusiasm, Mathias, and the result is worth each and every of the five stars. Isn't it fascinating, that - despite being taken at sunset and backlit - the image clearly shows the Aer Lingus titles glowing in the sun? W.
