Remark Photographer
G-APFL (cn 17713/169) This ex-British airtours 707 has been flying around with the Ugandan registration 5X-CAU. When the aircraft was overpainted in the national colours its Ugandan regi completely disappeared, only the British regi is slightly visible under its port wing. Before this location was an open field, but since a few years it has changed into 'Aero Beach', inclusive of playground facilities, a bar, a buffet and a sand beach.

This must be the last surviving complete airframe from BOAC's early 707s. I've always wondered what happened to APFF so thanks for this. Hopefully she can survive for many years slowly rusting in the sun

A local taxi driver told me that this was Idi Amin's ride. Hey Aussie, it's not just "....there in the sun doing......nothing", it's an attraction. It caught my attention and I would not have known this bar/restaurant was here had it not been for this 707.

Looks like it has a full set of Conways, too- would love to hear them run!

I really don't get these a/c's. They are worth a bit (metal scrap) and yet they literally just sit there in the sun doing.....nothing!

Excellent subject! We don't see enough of this sort of relic - it's great to see old airliners retained in 'odd' locations or used as offbeat attractions.

What's the Caravelle in the background??
