CCCP-77102 / 451 (cn 01-2) Impacting the ground in Goussainville, as seen from Le Bourget. You hear a big thump, then there is an eerie silence, and then you hear sirens everywhere, fire-engines rush to the scene, and rescue helicopters take-off.

This is the most amazing photo I've ever seen of this crash. It only underscores the tragedy of the TU-144 program. The Soviet Supersonic jet was doomed from the start, but it's fate was sealed by the reality that the TU-144 was a product of the Soviet Union, where it didn't enjoy the audience of Millionaires and literati who were able to pay a fortune to make the Franco-British Concorde the illustrious success it eventually became...for years, prior to that one fateful takeoff outside Paris in 2000.
