A visitor from - posted Tue December 28, 2010: Here is a question that I hope someone can answer: I notice that the fifth and sixth cabin windows (forward -> aft) are higher on the fuselage than the remaining cabin windows. (I believe that I have seen this arrangement on on other vintage Soviet civil designs.) My question is this...why? Is because of the wing box? Wing spar carry-through? Is the cabin floor raised at that point, following the windows? Any light that could be shed on this will be appreciated!

Too bad nowadays a lot of russian planes are in bad state, which leads to accidents and bad reputation. I have absolute faith in the russian designers.
