Not great quality, but evocative, taken the day before its fatal crash. Concorde cruises up and away, leaving Charger to its fate.

I was there on the day of the crash, almost at the far end of the spectator area near Goussinville, My friend was putting his camera away as the front airfoil fell off under the stress, I remember it as I was watching it through binoculars. Its good to see it before that sad day. the juxtapose with concorde is very well shown. thanks for a great picture

Classic shot! Here you can see the similarities between the flying Concord and the TU-144 on the ground. No one could imagine the fatal fate of the Russian SST.

Very sad to look at our dreams of the 70's, knowing the way they turned out. Great dreams though!

In the 70's probably one would think that by 2011 all would fly in SSTs...

Whose fatal crash happened a day after; the Tupolev or Concord? I mean both have crashed historically.

As history played out the TU-144 was hampered by mechanical problems from the get-go.

With todays technology, its interesting that supersonic travel never evolved. Have never understood why. Guess aerospace industries are too focused on building destructive technologies.

TU was just being unlucky. R.I.P both of the beauties.

Both Supersonic jets are caught in a once-in-a-liftime pic. Who would imagine Tu-144`s fate? I guess the pic was taken one day before the Tu-144 crashed during the Le Bourget Air Show. It would not survive any longer. Concord, on the other hand, would eventually succeed as the one and only supersonic jetliner in the aviation industry, until the unfortunate crash in 1999, near Paris, France.
