Remark Photographer
CCCP-77102 / 451 (cn 01-2) Not a great photo, but especially interesting. The day before it's crash, the TU-144 performs the identical maneuver that it failed to survive on its next attempt. Otherwise making for a poor shot, the picture has a horizontal and vertical reference clearly showing the extremely severe attitude of the aircraft. It flew from left to right at slow speed, then pitched up steeply and banked left. The next day, at the apogee of this maneuver, it suffered reverse airflow, stalled and broke up.

The aircraft broke up during that fateful maneuver because the pilots over-stressed the airframe. There's quite a bit of info on this event (google) as well as video/s on youtube/metacafe.

You should google the real reason of the crash~

The pic may be old but still shows the impressive type of maneuvers russian pilots always do on airshows. Too bad this one ended sour, however the TU 144 is still the best SST ever built (speed; take off cruise and approach, range and passengers onboard). I like the Concord but love the TU 144.

Almost as if we were there. Quality not even an issue; it's more about treasuring the moment in time.
