After 40 years, 1.5 million hours or 650 million nautical miles of flying, and 100 million transported passengers, Aerolineas Argentinas retired the "Chancha", as the employes called the B737-200. Here, captains F. Carrea and P. Parrado wave for the camera before we set off for the "Chancha's" last flight with AR. This picture is dedicated to everyone at AR who worked on the B737-200 and contributed to this milestone. Farewell "Chancha", we will miss you!

"1.5 million hours... 100 million transported passengers" - sounds too fantastic: 1,500,000 hours is more than 170 years - too much for ONE airplane ;)

Anyone nervous of flying should see this.

I think what he mean by "1,5 million pax" is for the whole pax carried by all AR 732, not just one. CMIIW, chancha is the nickname for AR 732 fleets, just like 'Dreamliner' on 787.. Is that right Nicholas??

I'm guessing 1.5 million flight hours refers to the entire B737-200 fleet that was in service Aerolineas Argentinas.

Great photo.

Nothing to say about the numbers, but this is the true warrior of the skies! She deserves a good retirement.

The Numbers refers to all 737-200. I think that Aerolineas has more than 40 "Chancha's" in their fleet.

"Chancha" is the female form for Pig in spanish. It was given this name 'cause of the 732 frame, it's really looks like a little pig... And it's not only the employes that called her like that, if you ask any Argentinian about "La chancha" (or chanchita), they'll know exactly what you're talking about.
Great picture Nicolas!

737-200 is the most beautiful plane ever made, second best is the A310.

What an emotive moment! The AR 737-200s were definitely the AR workhorse during 40 years.
BTW, 1.5M hours for the whole 732 fleet.

Thanks for the kind comments! Of course the numbers referred to the whole B737-200 fleet that AR operated throughout the last 40 years!

Of course he means for the whole 737-200s fleet, the numbers sound right. As I understand they are being replaced by 737NGs. Thanks for sharing this with us Nicolas!!

A mix of sadness and happiness. All in all, a great photo depicting an epic moment in AR's history.
