Stunning photo... I'm speechless. The lightning, the purple-ish clouds, the light hitting the front of the plane, the CRJ takeoff in the background... it all adds up to make one incredible shot.
Hey, perhaps I'm not THAT speechless... lol

A visitor from Netherlands posted Sat November 14, 2009:
Just amazing! There were two thunderbolts while taking this photo! The taking off CRJ is clearly lit two times. That's when the light of the bolt ''hits'' them! Wonderfull, This shot would even have been amazing without the aircraft. Now think about how amazing I find it WITH the aircraft!

Breathtaking! The reflection, the lightning, the contrast, the takeoff in the background combine to make one incredible photograph.

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 26, 2007:
Absolutely incredible. I love the way the CRJ in the background is silhouetted with lightning flashes twice during the exposure. I think the lightning hidden behind the foreground plane was a big factor in making this a great shot, silhouetting the back of the plane and the clouds (or mountains?)above. I've been browsing airliners.net photos for a long time and this one made my jaw drop.

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 26, 2007:

A visitor from United States posted Sat November 25, 2006:
This photo is amazing, from the CRJ and Dash 8, to the lightning behind the nose, to the reflection of the jet on the ground. Truly compelling, perfect timing, and the best photograph I have ever seen of AnyThing, let alone and airliner!

A visitor from United States posted Sat November 25, 2006:
I love the way the Dash 8 is illuminated just slightly with the lightning in the background at the nose. The plane has a wonderful contrasting orange to the dull colors around it that makes it stand out, as well as how often are you lucky enough to catch a shot that opportune? Great shot and perfect timing!

A visitor from Canada posted Tue August 22, 2006:
You can see at two positions the CRJ because of the lightning.

A visitor from Hungary posted Tue August 22, 2006:
Whoa! This shot has more than enough things that make a shot special:
-Night shot of a well-lit a/c
-A/c taking off but only lights can be seen* because of the long exposure
-A lightning can be seen clearly crisply

*At two positions I can clerly see the taking-off aircraft - a CRJ. Can anyone inform me what causes this?

A visitor from Canada posted Tue August 22, 2006:
Excellent shot! Everything seems to have come out just right, and that's one awesome backround. The Dash alone like that would make for a great shot, but the CRJ and the lightning behind combine to make what I think is one of a.net's best.

A visitor from Canada posted Mon August 21, 2006:
This is a great shot because the subject in the foreground is absolutely clear and the nice little touch of the CRJ in the background does not take anything away from the main focus. Rich saturated colours and excellent sharpness. The reflection of the Dash 8 is another great part. Keep it up!!!

The photo is so beautiful for so many reasons ... the colour, the timing, the contrast. AWESOME!
