A visitor from United States posted Sat September 13, 2008: While I agree that the Airbus 319/320/321 Series of narrowbody aircraft are equally beautiful in design (not necessarily flying characteristic wise) I regret to inform you that these aircraft are not "20 odd years old" as you wrote. The A321 was FIRST produced to be tested in March 1993, and received European Certification in December of that year. The A319 was announced during the Paris Air Show in 1993, and flew for the first time in April 1996 (Both Certification and service entry occurred during this time as well). The A320 (the -100 which was built in limited #s) received its operating certification in February 1988, and the first V2500 Engined A320 was delivered and flown in 1989. The -200 Version which is the on e we are all accustomed to seeing at airports around the world was certified in November 1988. Great picture though!
