The first wide-body airliner.
The first airliner to use high-bypass turbofans.
This is also one of the fastest airliners in the world - and has held that honor for almost 40 years. In my eyes this is the most beautiful airliner in the world.

I thought she was still the fastest: cruise speed 910 km/h for the -400, according to the KLM 1993 yearbook. Which bird is faster, then? A340-500? B787? Anyone? And in this livery, I'd almost want to make love to this beauty, the queen of the skies.

Great Picture! I think this must have been taken when the aircraft was displayed to the employees. My Dad worked for AC and I was there! These colours are so much nicer than the current scheme!
