Excellent capture, but what are they doing with those large 'cargo' doors? It's not catering because there's another container on the other side of the CA plane.

Yes, what are those large cargo doors?

They have large cargo doors because they are combies, they carry a mix of cargo and passengers depending on configuration

Flew these KLM combis a few times.. they're quite comfortable! What you basically get is the advantage of a big plane (silence, smooth flight, facilities) but without an uncomfortably big passenger load. Plus, they make daily flights possible between a small country such as The Netherlands and all kinds of very specific destinations - think Hangzhou, Chengdu, Taipei, Dutch Antilles, Osaka.

Correct, the passenger section ends somewhere around midwing and the entire back end of the aircraft is for cargo. Flew one of EVAs from TPE to MNL and back, and there was no real difference for the PAX other than having a bulkhead in the middle of the aircraft, and a much lower pax count.

Actually the seperation wall is just behind the L/R4 door, and NOT midwing, so just before the maindeck Cargo door itself to make it easier to see. Aft of the cargo door is the maindeck cargo area, upt to slightly past the L/R5 door. Aprox 20% of the main deck space. KLM does not fly combi's to the antilles either. KL Capt 747
