AirFrance B747 with old paint scheme taxis out for departure on RWY 15R past AirFrance A380 F-HPJB with new paint scheme. OK, the 747 is older and not as shiny and new as the A380, but it's still one impressive bird!

Dirty and old VS. Clean, new and beautiful! That is what seperates the old-dated Boeings from modern Airbuses. My opinion of course.

Air France doesn't deserve white in their scheme. This is like the 100th pic i have seen in which the aircraft is dirty like hell.

Fantastic! Allways love the photos taken at BOS!
By the way, what was the AF A380 doing there in BOS? Was it due to bad weather conditions at JFK?

Wonderful shot, and a little correction to the remark:
The 747 is the MORE impressive bird.

She's dirty!! But in my opinion the dirtiest 747 is much more beautiful than the cleanest A380. She'll be the Queen forever!!!

The 747 has a heavier and richer legacy than the 380 when one critically examines the spirit of both programs and how each plane came into being. This legacy will be pretty hard to beat another 40 years from now. It will take a 747 to beat a 747. Iterestingly enough, the 380 could well have been a 747 if such a design was selected by Boeing during initial design studies.

DC-10 or MD-11, A330 or B777, A380 or B747? The debate lives on!

Biased, Boeing rules.

Even in this picture in the background, the A380 still trumps the B747. The A380 is such a magnificent bird

Great catch, really shows the modernism of the new livery in comparison to the old styling. Subtle yet very effective changes. Answers the critics who claimed the change of livery was no different. Better aircraft? - neither, both great aeroplanes

Nice pic, the dirtiness of the 747 makes it look really old. Could you talk of how beautiful the 747 is and how ugly the A380 is get anymore boring and annoying? PS: it doesn't take a 747 to beat a 747, if not Boeing would have sold over 700 748i by now. A 77W and an A380 beats a 747 in todays world.

Can not compare a Ford Mustang 70' with an Audi A8: It's not the same conception... The twin are nice, but not with the same efficience, isnt'it ?

Decent shot, nice motive. How come the pretty plane wears dirty old paint while the chunky whale gets crisp, clean paint!

I love the photo but am curious if anyone knows why the a380 was at Boston? The runways are barely big enough for 747s.

To the comment below, 380's use less distance than 744's to get off/back on the floor.
