What a beautiful shot: love the metal reflections, the trailing wing-tip vortices, and the shape of the cloud, especially the interesting break on the left wing leading up to the body, and the difference in the cloud shape on the two sides. Thanks for sharing! -kaliko trapp

I have been to LAX, but never seen a Air France 777.
Maybe i didn't stay long enough to see one!! Thank you for taking the picture for me so at lease i now know they are around there!!!

One of the best I have seen

I'm no plane expert, but imho i think this is water condensation in low pressure zones around the plane. Water saturated air condense as pressure goes down

And i tought all flights were non-smoking!!!

A one in a million photo of such a large aircraft in the clouds. At first glance, it appears that the aircraft is in trouble as in maybe smoke from fire. Then to see the power of man and of Mother Nature merge makes for this terrific shot.

Breathtaking - quite simply. Looks like a slow-motion capture of what it looks like when Scotty beams you up... ;-)

Clever shot to demonstrate the pressure difference above and below the wing — for those who maybe don't follow basic physics: some of the passengers may have had serious worries if looking out of the windows!

A cunning capture! It's in it's own bubble of IMC.
Anonymous

A clearing weather front has left the air nearly saturated with water vapour, and it only takes a small drop in air pressure to turn it in to cloud. That’s where the 777 comes into the equation!
Anonymous

Great photo! I've never seen vapour off a plane captured like that. It almost looks like something out of Star Trek.
