The reason why there is reverse thrust in the air is due to the long spool-up time of the engines, so this already gets them ready for landing. Nice picture Raymond!
Love that tiny tail-strike preventing wheel.
Reverse just prior to touchdown is common practice for the IL-62.
Just about to pull down the rear wheel. Outstanding aircraft.
I think this type only has thrust reversers on the outer engines only. Something about hot air exhaust damaging the airframe AFAIR.
Beautiful Shot | |
Lovely aircraft, its great to see something as unique as this, and an airline like Air Koryo (sadly banned in the EU!) and a wonderful photo it is.
It's allowed to use reverse in the air before touchdown on this type of aircraft. It's real Russian plane:)
My guess is that since it has 4 engines 2 are on reverse thrust and slowing the plane down and 2 are providing thrush so the plane dosent slam on he runway. i guess its an easiae way of slowing aircraft like this.
Hey! what's the story with the reverse thrusters before touchdown? i thought the reverses could only be activated only once the plane was on the ground! could anyone explain please?
Wow!,reverse before landing!?,why?
