"Dunedin" seen here starting her engines for the 12 hour 45 minute journey to Auckland. NZ 747's use to visit LAX three times daily, however since February they have been non existant here. This is one of two 747 remaining in the Air New Zealand fleet, they remain mainly as cover for the modern fleet of 777-200s and 300s. Today the 747 was used to cover the NZ6/NZ5 rotation as ZK-OKQ is absent while on duty with the All Blacks Rugby team in Argentina. Getting this photo has been my goal this year. Enjoy.

Amazing shot!!! But it is so terrible how ANZ is getting rid of there 747s!!!

And even worse perhaps, how they are getting rid of the pacific wave (visible here) and the blue & green tails... just read the 'Koru' will be surrounded by plain black on the fin in the years to come from somewhere in the near future. Another chapter in the book that is being written by so many co-authors/airlines these days: 'how to ruin a great brand image.'
ANZ, replacing the 747-400 with the 773ER is understandable but bad enough, don't thrash your beautiful colours too.
