I fully agree..This picture is the reflection of the time when the REAL Alitalia-LAI was competing with all the other Majors..Today we are just trying to survive and, in command of our ship, we just have people who really don't care about the Airline business and prestige!

What a beauty!
Like my fellow italians, i look back with sadness to those days when Alitalia had such beautiful big airplanes. Sadness because today Alitalia is administrated by incompetent people.

Answer to my fellow German: Maybe it´s the visit of John Paul II.? But you must concern it is a very elegant design.

The only time I was on a 747 was this one and I can't believe I see it again. I'm an air traffic controller now but the 47 always gets me excited

The background helps highlight what a great looking plane this is. also the vehicles & people gathered around along with the fabulous colour makes this a great shot. definitely top class.

Being italian, it makes me truly sad to see such impressive shots at a time when it is certain Alitalia is done. A disgrace to the nation, we have lost our national airline because of the state's terrible administration. Decades of faithful service end in shame. ;'(

Great picture, showing the modern and spacious Galeao Airport. In the background, we see the Penha Church, on top of a hill, illuminated, just above the 747 main deck second door. Rio is my hometown.

What a fantastic shot of a classic airliner in a timeless paint scheme.

Always big birds in GIG. By the way, the VW Kombi looks thin in perspective with 47

Why don't airlines today leave the engines as bare metal? It's so classic looking.

What a gorgeous, regal-looking airplane.
