Its a 7000 foot runway...Same as LGA...Doesnt look high to me. I think when you are inside a landing plane it always looks higher than it really is.

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments! When we landed, I thought we did come in a bit high. The pilot landed properly (I'm not sure how far down the runway) but we did not do a go around.

Is the pilot thinking of doing a go around?

A visitor from Mexico posted Wed March 8, 2006:
The best place on earth to spend vacation! It looks a little bit high for a landing, but a beautiful sight we have here. T.B.

In fact, the plane is too high...

A visitor from United States posted Wed March 8, 2006:
Even though it seems a little high, it's interesting to see the SXM approach from a passenger perspective.

Awesome shot, Michael. Makes me want to go back to SXM right now and sit at the Sunset Beach Bar all day. :)

Yup.. to me It seems to high...

This is weird. As a virtual pilot (FS9) I use to land regularly at TNCM and this plane is indeed too high unless the pilot is a former AF C-130 jock' doing a "Sarajevo approach"...

Very nice to see this from another perspective. Good job!

Heaven on earth.

A visitor from Australia posted Tue March 7, 2006:
That's because you see it from the inside. If you have a look at another outside image you can see the distance between the windows and the ground is actually big. but i do agree, it is slightly higher than usual. Nice Pic!!

A visitor from United States posted Tue March 7, 2006:
I have to agree, this looks to high to be landing.. You didn't do a go around?

A visitor from United States posted Tue March 7, 2006:
I was born in 92! Awesome shot. I must say the plane is a little high on approach don't you think?

A visitor from United States posted Tue March 7, 2006:
FINALLY, a shot from within the airplane looking down on the beach go-ers while landing at sxm

A visitor from Australia posted Tue March 7, 2006:
I was just playing on my flight sim landing at SXM and if i was this high at this point of landing i would end up in the water at the other end, pffft stupid flight sim. GREAT SHOT by the way.

A visitor from United States posted Mon March 6, 2006:
Great shot, but isn't the plane too high? All the other planes I've seen have just barely cleared the fence!
