Remark Photographer
NC16013 (cn 1551) Flagship Virginia. Photo taken by my late father William C.Wall Sr. around 1940 and scanned from the original Kodachrome slide. El Paso native and resident John Paul Jones has confirmed that this is indeed El Paso and reports the following: "Originally it [the airport] was built by Standard Airways in 1935 and was known by that name till Standard was absorbed by the new American Airways, soon to become American Airlines. The city of El Paso bought the property and moved their Municipal Airport there after making improvements in 1936 but American remained the prime tenant and it was identified as such." I thank Mr. Jones very much for his help positively identifying the airport in this picture.

Amazing Nostalga in this photo. Such a crisp view of long gone era, looks so simple and sedate compared to modern aviation.

Wonderful photo. I'd love a poster of this to go in my room. Simply priceless...

Nice photo, kind of looks like what would've been an ad for an old airline!

I can easily imagine myself seated in the DC-3, looking at what's happening on the ramp. What are the two employees talking about? And where were they two years later... Taking care of USAAF C-47s somewhere over the world?
As you said: Great shot!
It should be made as a poster.

I have been researching this particular terminal for some time. Very few photos exist - none have I seen in color except for a 1938 American Airlines calendar. Built around 1936 it no longer exists but I find this photo invaluable.
