Are you still alive? Can you still hear? Did they go around? You seem to be very brave!

It looks like this was taken ON the runway!
I can feel the wake turbulence from my computer chair.

Though this is a masterpiece, i am really concerned that sometimes people go to the extent whereby, they put themselves and others in an harmway, one of these situations is this one, very close to landing, dangerous move in my view.

Probably the most awesome pic on A.Net! Would love to know how fast you ran after this pic to get out of the blast zone? ha.

YEAH! Outstanding perspective! Did you stand there or did you control the camera by remote? If the first one you are crazy ... but I think that's very cool!

Just when you thought a bad location wasn't enough to make landing in this airport one of the scariest in the world.....Access to its only runway is like a walk in park. Great capture nonetheless!

I agree with a couple of previous comments. The photo is technically fantastic. However it reflects the fact that Toncontin is not only dangerous because of its location but the lack of security in the runway. Even if you were an airport official you would not be authorized to be in that location with a landing aircraft.

Toncontin is a special airport for those of us who fly there and like to take pictures here. A couple of years ago, there was a street in the place were this shot was taken, were all day long there was a flow of heavy traffic, including buses, cars, and trucks. By the time this shot was taken, the runway extension had just began and the same security divisions for the airport were still there. The only difference with SXM is that in TNT we don´t have a nearby ocean, but a couple of mountains surrounding the airport.

This is one of the best shots I have ever seen on Airliners.net. I know that if the photographer was standing on the runway he could have triggered a go-around by the pilots. Though dangerous, I believe the risk was worth it. Such a picture could not have been taken in most countries. Now, I hope the photographer doesn’t get jailed after publishing this frame….

Like a Honduran, this type of pictures remembers me how the adrenaline rushes when I stand there, but believe me that AA pilots wont do a go around just because of this..

Hey Jos'e! I can see ya reflecting on the plane body, just before the wing...You pretty cool Man!

The only way I could see this working or being some what legal, is if the photographer was a pilot / airport staff and the aircraft above was doing practice approaches / touch and go's.

WOW! Amazing shot! Given the chance, I can't imagine the thrill of being that close to a landing 757, SXM be damned!
