I guess it can fly again...Needs some paint, replace the damaged windows, repair the flap, pylon and wing...and this bird will surely get back to service.
I wonder what's going to happen to this poor bird, even though I think I already know the answer; a sad thing maybe, but 762's are already being retired nowadys anyway, whether they went through hard times like this one or not...
I got to stand next to this a/c in LA a few months ago in August, while i was visiting F&E. Everett took me to see this a/c which i believe is a write off and has been parked in the same spot for a number of months, maybe almost a year now...Pretty sad to see. The flap, pylon, and wing were melted to the honeycomb along with various parts of the mlg being torched. Everett had told me that parts of the engine wound up a good quarter mile or so from the a/c.
Good thing this was a test run... the damage to the windows looks really scary.
Aww come on, surely it could still be used on a short hop say to KSFO or KSAN and back! =)
Great shot! Cant help but notice the damage caused to the windows.
How did the engine explode???
