Nice shot. Anyone else notice the hole on the number 4 engine pylon? Is that supposed to be there?

Not sure if I would of enjoyed that flight, probably would not of taken it at all!

I think I would have shut the window and looked straight ahead the entire flight.

Yeah, that "hole" is supposed to be there on engine No. 4.

It's more of a gap than a hole and I also think it's meant to be there.

Crikey, glad it was planned and didn't come off mid-flight. A friend of mine when we lived in Egypt was coming from Luxor up to Cairo international on an Egypt Air flight when they actually lost an engine mid flight, darned thing just came loose and dropped off. They continued and landed at Cairo, but didn't approach the main terminal, they were marshalled to a remote area, unloaded and driven to the terminal by busses while the aircraft was immediately hidden in a hangar. Another friend was head of BA at Cairo at the time, when we mentioned the incident to him he hadn't heard of it (unreported) so went to investigate, and sure enough located the stricken aircraft hidden in a hangar, it seems Egypt Air failed to declare the incident!

It says it was a ferry flight so the bird is more than likely empty. More than likely a maintnance flight.

The slot in the pylon is to accommodate the fan reverser sleeve, which moves rearward when reverse thrust is selected.
