The fastest piston-engined aircraft in the world on 16-Aug-1969, at 483.041 mph. Darryl Greenamyer’s 'Conquest 1' Bearcat was the most winning Unlimited racer of the first decade of Reno racing - national champion in 1965, '66, '67, '68, '69, and '71. Now beautifully restored and on display at the Dulles Smithsonian Museum. What amazed me (apart from the yellow paint!) was the ridiculously small bubble cockpit canopy - he was one brave guy.
