C-122 (cn 191-669) The Argentine Air Force incorporated 28 surplus Sabres in the 1960’s. Based in the 4th Air Brigade in Mendoza, they remained in active duty until 1986. Argentine Sabres saw action in helping to foil an April 1962 coup attempt against the established government. The FAA Sabres attacked the Navy base at Punta Indio and destroyed a Navy C-54 on the ground, helping to quench the coup. The F-86F was fitted with a 10,000 lbf (44 kN) thrust J47-27 engine.
