A visitor from India posted Tue October 6, 2009: The IL 62 has a better safety record than many of its western peers of its time. This accident resulted from an excessive landing speed and runway overrun, rather than any flaw in the aircraft as such.
A visitor from United States posted Sun August 23, 2009: The IL-62 did its job by not bursting into a huge fireball. There is nothing wrong with soviet designed planes, many of them were over-engineered in strength, at the expense of comfort or efficiency.
