The Ilyushin is agreat plane.
Could have been pilot error.
Also you are trying to tell me that there havn't been any crashes with Airbus over the years ?

The IL-62 did its job by not bursting into a huge fireball. There is nothing wrong with soviet designed planes, many of them were over-engineered in strength, at the expense of comfort or efficiency.

The IL 62 has a better safety record than many of its western peers of its time. This accident resulted from an excessive landing speed and runway overrun, rather than any flaw in the aircraft as such.
