Nice action caught on camera. If I didn't know there was a runway beneath it, I'd say it already crashed..

Beautifull photo! Perfect timing to shoot the picture! Specially the flying rubber from the tire.

In the right place at the right time! Nice capture of the incident. Any ideas what might have caused it?

So i take it the pilots didn't have enough runway length to abort the takeoff.

I saw the incident from terminal B, at least the landing(after the tires blew from the take off?).
At the end of the runway there was a parade of firetrucks, one of them sprayed some foam into the tires.
I beat the runway was a bit scratched from the metal!

Most airlines teach NOT to abort at high speeds for blown tires. A high speed abort is far more dangerous than continuing and coming back for landing.

Interesting technique... and I always thought that a maximum-performance takeoff involved eventually RELEASING the brakes!

I guess this picture is one out of a serie but as the incident happened during take-off, it shows the liftoff of the nose landing gear but still having the main gears on ground. Beside that it is well framed and clear.

Nice picture! I was at the same time at a bit different place, at the start of the runway. I saw the smoke and everything ahead.

I was the flight engineer on that flight, Atlas Air Cargo.
We continued the take off as per procedure, flying the plane safely into the air where we then sorted out without disaster.
Tires exploded at near to rotate speed. Abort was not an option.

Again.... Fly the plane. Stay safe, and oh yes, fly the plane.
