N378BC (cn 33474/1245) The first flight of the Boeing Wedgetail AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning & Control) platform. Just above and behind the Wedgetail is the Boeing photography chase plane, a Canadair T-33. To the right in the photo is the Columbia Tower, the fourth tallest building in the USA west of the Mississippi. Unfortunately it was a very hazy and dull morning.

Nice shot !

An F-18 would make no sense as a chase plane, it's too big and too fast for the task. A chase plane must be able to fly slowly.

Boeing still uses T-33 (at least two) to this day. Airbus/EADS/ATR use an old AƩrospatiale Corvette (yes, it's a plane).

A more modern chase plane would make sense indeed. F18 sounds like a good proposal to me since it is Boeing-made now too (demise of McDonnel Douglas).
Quite amusing Boeing's chase plane is built by Canadair.

Very nice shot, but I would have though Boeing would use a more contemporary chase plane: I.E. F-18
