A24-30 (cn 1033) On this day the Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum officially opened its new hangar, built to house this Catalina. The original A24-30 was a composite aircraft put together in the Netherlands East Indies during the dark days of February 1942 from parts of the Dutch Y-72 (fuselage) and USN Bu 2305 (wings). The aircraft escaped to Australia and later became RAAF A24-30. Sold post war to Kingsford Smith Aviation Service but apparently never civil registered. The hull was reputedly trucked to Lake Boga and ended up on a local farm.
