Rare view of the RAAF's First De Havilland Australia F.30 single-seat Vampire. She was on Gate Guard Duty at RAAF Base Williamtown in 1980, and had deteriorated from exposure to the elements. Note the faded canopy perspex and torn fabric under the cockpit. This aircraft was Delivered to the RAAF in Sep 1949, and became an Instructional Airframe at RAAFSTT Wagga in August 1961. She has been rescued, having been re-located to the Fighter World Museum at Williamtown. Low res photo.
