A weather-worn P2V-5 Neptune (formerly numbered A89-595) survives at RAAF Base Wagga in 1987. This aircraft was delivered to the RAAF in November 1951. Sadly, Sister-Ship A89-308 crashed near Richmond 50 years ago (on 05Feb1959) with the loss of all eight crew members. The Neppy was limping back to base with a blazing Port engine, when the wing separated at 50 feet over the Hawkesbury River (RIP). On a lighter note, I photographed Sister-Ship A89-301 at Laverton on April Fools Day 1968 (01Apr1968)!
