Thank you for this photo - it brings back memories. I lived in Caracas as a child, from the mid 50s to the mid 60s. We used to drive by the airport on the way to our beach house. From time to time I would get a glimpse of the Caravelle from a great distance at Maiquetía and it always fascinated me. I hoped to see it up close during one of our visits to the airport, but that never happened. This photo make up for that.

Good picture, even though it is a Black & White one. I understand that this Caravelle previously served with Cruzeiro Do Sul and Varig. Then, it was leased to Viasa for a short term and returned to Avensa. Sadly, it was destroyed during a hard landing in Barquisimeto, State of Lara in 1973 and written-off the same year. The pic is completed with a couple of Convairs (580 and 330) and a DC-3. Classic image of the Avensa of the mid 1960

A very rare picture of this Caravelle using Avensa colors. Next to it are a DC-3, a Convair 540 and a Convair 280. As far as I know, this airplane was the only Caravelle operated by Avensa by the time this picture was taken.
