Z-BAV (cn 48408/457) AVIENT's first MD-11F was photographed on final approach to Singapore at the end of flight SMJ381 from Hong Kong. In the glorious tropical sun, its gorgeous livery was second to none. Sadly three days later, the same aircraft crashed on take-off from Shanghai Pudong Airport enroute to Bishkek. Our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the three crew members who perished and our thoughts and prayers also for the four injured crew members, hoping that they recover completely soon.

R.I.P to the lives lost in this tragic accident and wish those crews who were injured could walk away from the shadow soon and go back to sky!

As written before " a beautiful but very sad picture ". Especially for me .... I flew my last sector on this airplane ( Varig's PR-LGD ) before leaving my former company , after 22 years , to join Singapore Airlines Cargo .

It's extremely sad to think that this beautiful bird met with such a tragic end. There were a lot of people, me included, who wished her a long life with a new operator. No matter what anybody says about the MD-11, it is one the most elegant aircraft ever built and having flown in it, I can say it is one amazing aircraft!

RIP, the deceased. I pray for a fast and full recovery for the injured..
