For people of my generation with an interest in aviation, one of the defining features of the Trident Three was this additional fourth engine in the tail (the Rolls-Royce RB 162) to give it some extra 'oomph' at take off if necessary. This made it stand out from the (similar in some people's eyes) Boeing 727, and other Trident models. Also in the photo is new exhibit XV231, the Nimrod recently received from the RAF at the Runway Visitor Park, and soon to be ready for full public display.
