Seen here in South Pen, Technical Block A at the BOAC engineering base after a fire in the number one engine. An engine ground run was being carried out by the engineers when a catastrophic failure occurred causing a fire which burned off the outboard engine and outer wing. The burnt outer wing is in the foreground. The aircraft was repaired by splicing on an outer wing section from a retired TWA 707.
