This is the last Comet 1 built. Initially operated for Air France as F-BGNZ. Following the Comet crashes due to fatigue, the aircraft were withdrawn and redesigned. Most were scrapped, but this one was refitted with oval windows and strengthened skin and registered G-5-23, then G-APAS. The aircraft operated for the Ministry of Supply on trials with the military serial XM823 until retired, then the Ground Instructional serial 8351M. Now displayed in BOAC colours to represent the pioneering Comet 1s of that airline.
