It's incredible how they can level its CG with its force centre. Thanks for this nice shot!
Excellent photo. Such a beautiful bird. Such a beautiful sound. Such a shame.
What the....? The landing gear takes up the entire wing. Where's the fuel tanks?
Wow! Nice photo! This aircraft reminds me of the Piaggio P-180 Avanti!
Beech engineering and quality can be seen from the distance
It just a good example of what we used to be able to build.
The FAA doomed this aircraft because they did not/could not understand that a canard aircraft does not stall the way a normal aircraft does and therefore the speeds that are used to predicate performance will be completely skewed. The FAA has a hard time understanding a lot of things.
What sort of machine is this? I am stunned.
Wonderful composition, angle and lighting on this one! In addition to the design's complexity and cost, the Starship also came in overweight, and ended up slower than advertised. All conspired to doom the plane in the marketplace.
Wich wil be the best this Starship or a Pioaggio Aero 180..?
Aptly named! Too bad most got scrapped...was it a case of "bad-timing" sales-wise, or was it too expensive for a prop-plane?
Santos Dumont was right when he put the horizontal stabilizer in front of his 14 BIS back in 1903. Kind of an early canard.
It is my understanding that Burt Rutan's high tech carbon fiber engineering made them too expensive and they didn't sell. For the same price you could buy a jet. Still a brilliant design of great beauty. A work of art. From the ground they look like a UFO.
A very nice photo! 5*****'s for this one! I read a lot about this plane when Burt Rutan designed it, and Beech built it, but for some reason, it just never did "catch on"; and I never heard anything bout the canards being variable-geometry. Thanks Jaysen for uploading it.
Its to bad it never got into the industry that is a nice plane. I think canards would have been a nice asset.
The variable geometry of the canards can be seen in this picture.
Perfectly framed and focused. Nice unusual angle. Thanks for sharing it.
Starships are pure flying art. This photo is awesome! The wallpaper I was waiting for. Thanks Mr. Jaysem! My thanks also go to all STARSHIP pilots and the people that own these beatiful birds and keep them flying. LONG LIVE THE STARSHIP!
Good catch! | |
