A visitor from United States posted Sat February 19, 2011: The FAA doomed this aircraft because they did not/could not understand that a canard aircraft does not stall the way a normal aircraft does and therefore the speeds that are used to predicate performance will be completely skewed. The FAA has a hard time understanding a lot of things.

A visitor from United States posted Mon December 27, 2010: Wonderful composition, angle and lighting on this one! In addition to the design's complexity and cost, the Starship also came in overweight, and ended up slower than advertised. All conspired to doom the plane in the marketplace.

For the same price you could buy a jet. Still a brilliant design of great beauty. A work of art. From the ground they look like a UFO.

I read a lot about this plane when Burt Rutan designed it, and Beech built it, but for some reason, it just never did "catch on"; and I never heard anything bout the canards being variable-geometry. Thanks Jaysen for uploading it.
