This photo's got perfection written all over it. A worthy tribute for sure, and flawlessly executed. An instant classic if there ever was one!

The photo turned it to look like a brand new aircraft. Great farewell shot of one of the greatest airliners of all times.

Really nice panning shot. The background blur just says "in this moment, this machine was alive".

So long DC-10! You'll certainly be missed. @ the previous comment about the last MD-11 flight, sadly KLM will operate their last MD-11 service on Oct. 25, 2014! :(

Awesome! Sad to know that there will be no more DC-10 commercial passenger flights, but it is nice to know that some of the history will be preserved through great photography like this. Also it is refreshing to have a #1 photo that is not from that famous beach or a helicopter shot taken from the west coast.....I do like them, but it is overkill. Well done Charles!

Does anyone know where this DC-10 went after its last revenue passenger flight? Freighter conversion, Kemble, or even an American boneyard?

A visitor from Australia posted Sun February 23, 2014:
Both upper and lower red beacons AND the first puff of main gear tyresmoke ~ sensational way of saying 'farewell' to this beautiful trijet.

Stunning picture, well done
A fiting picture for the end of a beautiful passenger aircraft.

A great photo and a great photographer, usually if a unique event is going to happen ( such as the last landing of an airliner ) I would not risk anything that can compromise the image. 5 stars to the photographer who chose to shoot this image with this beautiful motion blur in the background. A fitting final photo for such a fine aircraft.
