VH-ASA (cn 61154) This Catalina is 'Frigate Bird II' VH-ASA, built in Vancouver Canada in 1944 (for RAAF as JX630 / A24-385). It flew the first air-crossing of the South Pacific Ocean, from Rose Bay Sydney to Valparaiso Chile, piloted by Capt PG Taylor, departing 13Mar1951. The aircraft was given to Capt PG Taylor by the Australian Government later in 1951. Also visible are DH-60X Cirrus Moth VH-UAU, built in UK in 1927, and Dept of Health NSW 'Air Ambulance' Beech B80 Queen Air VH-AMB, built in 1966. (Powerhouse Museum).
