Is the #4 engine the one that had an accident a month ago? Cowling color looks different.

In response to the "Why no winglets?" -- It turns out that the winglets add weight and reduce drag but don't increase lift. You'll start seeing all the new models with 'raked wingtips' which offer reduced drag and add a little lift. All while they weigh less. Save a few pounds over a 20 year lifespan and it adds up quickly. --Ben

Say "Ah.....". Timeless design and an enduring legacy. The company culture and spirit that drove this program in the 1960s is the real story and it seems such a culture can't be learned in MIT or Harvard Business School.

Lets see now, the nose is lifting, the engine cowlings are all opened and a side dooor is being opened as the photo was being taken, and the 747 is still more sleek and stunning than the A-380.
