When I was a 13 year-old boy, on July 31st, 1981, I saw this aircraft at my hometown, Rio de Janeiro. Good old memories, we sure miss Braniff !
The airline behing the BCAL 707 is Tradewinds, a British cargo company that operated 707s and CL-44s. In late 1979 they merged with another UK cargo company, Transmeridian, to form British Cargo Airlines, but unfortunately they didn't last a year before going bust.
What's the airline behind BCal? I too loved the Big Orange - I never flew this ship when she was in Braniff color (singular!) but I did fly her later in her career when she was with PeoplExpress.
Really reminds me of the soar 747 in Flight Simulator 2004 :)
"What color should we paint the 747?" "Well, you can't miss with brownish-orange!" "Agreed."
Great shot. Love the Dan-Air London aircraft, and also the British Caledonian to the right of the Brannif tail.
The wonderful background make this a very interesting shot
I wish Braniff International was still flying. It was one of my favorites. I have flown on "orange" many times.
I loved Braniff International and flew with Braniff often. I love this photo of the 747. Thank you.
It's like made of copper!
