"City of Edinburgh". Speedbird 282 heavy is lifting off runway 24L to LHR. First flight was March 19, 1979. Delivery date was March 27, 1979. Other serials - G-BDXH with EAL - European Aircharter delivered in January 2002. Wears FN XH with British Airways. On June 3, 1983 operating KUL-PER, all 4 engines flamed out from ash of Mt Galunggang volcano. Relit all engines, but shut down #2 again & diverted to CGK (Jakarta). Stored at BOH (Bournemouth) on March 17, 2004 as G-BDXH, & was broken-up in July 2009.

This plane is so big and spectacular to look at.

On 24 June 1982, this aircraft flew into volcanic ash, all 4 engines stopped, the flight crew were preparing to ditch this giant airliner, but they were able to restart the engines and made an emergency landing at Jakarta.
