 A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed May 22, 2013:A fair shot given the appalling lighting conditions (classic British "featureless bowl of light" kind of day), but redeemed by being there at the right moment to catch this scene. We have to remember the crew's creativity on short final - never the moment to realise you're in a glider - and the safety margins built into all airliners these days that allow them to perform a little above "book" value when it is needed most. Safety is a combination of factors just as much as accidents are, and aviation's the better for it. | |

 A visitor from United States posted Sun August 21, 2011:Isn't this the aircraft which encountered unusually cold temperatures en route over Siberia and its fuel started freezing, leading to fuel starvation just before touchdown? Only a few meters more and no one would have known the difference. Incredible. Great shot of a piece of history, too. | |
