Fascinating and rare night-time recovery work photo. Good job. I have the feeling that if this plane were made of composites, it would have shattered into a million pieces (like that Airbus which landed short in Libya with Dutch tourists just before hostilities broke out). I hope I am wrong.
I checked in the AAIB reports and there is no notice about the pilot beeing penalized (as "A visitor from Canada posted Fri July 2, 2010" mentioned). It seems to the be great truth about safe flying: "the plane is safe when the guy on the stick is really good". And "good" means no "big manouvers", but handling the craft with cold-blood and wings in the hart.
Every time I come across this story..I can't believe the professional pilot that brought the plane home without any injuries is being penalized..even though its been proven again and again it wasn't his fault that the Rolls engines lost power due to icing..would somebody gives this poor pilot a break!!!
This shows you how great and strong of a plane the 777 is, the fuselage is barely damaged! I heard that everyone walked away from this incident. The 777 is actually the safest Commercial jet in service as no one has ever died on one and the only incidents with the 777 ever to happen were because of the rolls royce engines.
Sad to see such a great bird like this. I'll fly these guys any day!
First off all nice shot and i tottaly agree i will alwyas fly BA and especially a 777
So would I | |
Long live the Triple Seven
I wonder what's the future of this baby??
Great image, with nice lighting and composition! I agree too, I'd fly with BA any day, the pilots here showed absolute professionalism in the most difficult circumstances. The cabin crew also acted in a textbook manner and what could have been a catastrophe ended up just being an unfortunate mishap. Congratulations to all on a job well done.
I love the author's comments. The nuts who wouldn't need a serious reality check about the dangers of flying versus, say, dieing.. Interesting picture of the recovery process.
Good picture,keep it up
After seeing these pics- i'd fly a 777 any day of the week...
I´d fly BA tomorrow with B777 as well! A great company and an amazing plane! Thanks for the photo, Richard.
