This aircraft suffered a fairly substantial bird-strike as it was about to land on Runway 27R. Birds can be seen being hit by the nose, fuselage and undercarriage and several were ingested into the starboard engine too, without apparent effect

If it weren't for Boeing's engineering, this would another BA38 that ended up ditching onto the runway.

Perfect timing, well captured. Sadly, many birds lost their lives.

Speedbird vs unlucky birds news at 11. Um, these engines are not GE-90s, they are RR Trent 800 which is the same engine that 'iced up' on BA38 so Boeing had nothing to do with this save.

I love this! Its a great catch. Shame about the bird. And I would like to point out these are RR engines, British built. RR never do anything by halves, thanks!

May the birds rest in peace...

I can't even see any damage to the engine, from the exterior at least. RR built those engines like tanks.

Dad, mom, aunt, uncle???? anyone still alive?!?!
Nah this is a fantastic photo and i still think if GE made engines like R&R there would be less worries ;)

Starlings. Wouldn't even register on the EGT gauge, the big Trent 800 would just chew them up!
