The MiG-17 (NATO code 'Fresco') was a logical development of the sucessful MiG-15 design, with the major difference being the adoption of the swept-wing with a 'compound sweep'. The MiG-17F variant was a day-fighter version with an afterburner. Several thousand MiG-17s were built by the USSR in the late-1950s, with additional production by WSK-Mielec in Poland (as the 'Lim-5') and Shenyang In China (as the 'Shenyang J-5'). Preserved in the Voennoistoricheski Muzej (Military History Museum) in Sofia.
