LZ-LDC (cn 49217/1268) Not something you see everyday, a MD-82 doing a tail stand after the weather has drifted a lot of snow ontp the tail section. Note the towing-line and how all the men are pulling the nose back down using their hands only. The attempt was successful and the nosegear was carefully returned to the ground.

When lightly loaded or not loaded at all, the MD-80 becomes tail-heavy. Thus it needs just some snow to sit on its tail.

Not sure I would want to travel anywhere on that plane!

No way snow could have produced enough weight to put this bird on it's tail. Definitely something else at work here. Not snow on the tail.

Beautiful days in Alitalia, at Rome Fiumicino, as I-DAVC are gone... Look at you now... :-(
Nice shot, however.

Goes to show just how finely balanced that plane is. a little snow is all it takes to tip it over apparently

A visitor from Denmark posted Sat February 13, 2010:
Wow! Do a plane really lift because of some snow on the tail? I didn't know that! 5 stars!
