The PT-26 Cornell is a canopied version of the rugged PT-19 primary trainer, designed in 1938 by Fairchild Aircraft Co. of Hagerstown, Maryland. One of the flying schools equipped with Cornells in Canada, during WW-II, was "Little Norway". Little Norway was established by about 120 Norwegian airmen who had escaped from their country after it had been overrun by the Germans in April 1940.

My father, Lee Archer, had a PT-19for a couple of years back in the early 50's, based at the now defuct Quartz Hill Airport, where we lived and where we learned to fly. I flew with him a few times. I was 9 and 10 at the time. Gary Archer, oldest son. Dad past away in January '07 at 90.
