Nothing quite sounds like a TBM on takeoff. It shakes the lungs in your chest cavity. The only way to be this close and not have it hurt your ears is to look directly at the engine. Many a sharp pain has been felt as the Doppler effect of the props goes by (at 200 or 300 yards).
